Meet Florence

Hello, my name is Florence Kramer.

My interest in Montessori happened as it does with many people when they walk into a Montessori classroom for the first time- to see children so independent in their own learning. At that time I had a degree in Early Childhood, but I could see that there was something special about the Montessori Philosophy. I saw children concentrating on complex math problems, treating each other with grace and courtesy, and happily choosing the activities themselves. In that moment I thought to myself, “I could teach in this environment for a long time.” And it has been a long time, 38 years to be exact, and I still love the Montessori Method.

After becoming a Montessori certified teacher for children ages three years to six years, I opened a wonderful Montessori school, where I directed and taught for 27 years. After those special years, I went back to school to become a Montessori certified teacher for children ages birth to three years. Currently I give lectures to parents and teacher groups and instruct at Montessori adult training programs. And while I enjoy all of these endeavors, my happy place is in the classroom with children. I have the deepest respect for all children, and I could not be happier to continue my wonderful work with children at Green Tree Montessori. I will be facilitating infant and parent classes and working daily with our toddlers. Toddlers are so interesting and complex. They love to explore and so do I. I am thrilled to continue my life long Montessori journey.
