Infants

Green Tree Montessori’s infant community is designed for children six months to eighteen months of age. In our infant program we create a bridge between home and school. We work closely with parents to make the transition to our small group of children smooth. Our Montessori infant community follows the natural rhythm of your child through a predictable day. Your infant’s sleeping and eating patterns will be observed and honored. Our infant room maintains a ratio of three children to one adult, which allows for this truly individualized approach.

Infants are respected as individuals, this is reflected in their individual schedules and the setup of the prepared learning environment. In our infant program, children are not restricted to infant equipment seats but are allowed to move safety with furniture that is low to the ground and appropriate for the size of the child. Activities are set up for individual children to discover spatial concepts, learn language, solve simple problems, develop muscle control, and learn self-care skills.

Our infant environment is located in a building specifically created for infants. Low windows allow the infants to be able to see the trees and our beautiful park-like playground. Heated floors make it comfortable moving down on the floors throughout the colder months. Natural light fills the room making our infant space calm and peaceful.

Toddlers

IMG_6806Green Tree Montessori’s toddler program is designed for children ages eighteen to thirty-six months. The toddler environment is carefully prepared to meet the unique needs of this age group.  Our toddler room maintains a ratio of four children to one adult. Toddlers are wired to explore. Through the child’s direct experiences with choosing their own activities they develop concentration, coordination of movement, and self-awareness.

The teachers observe the children and use these observations to modify the environment meeting each child’s developmental needs. As the toddler grows in their abilities, they are naturally driven to independence. So often we hear children proudly say, “I did it.” The primary goal of our toddler program is to create a safe and nurturing  environment where young children can be happy to do what they do best: learn, grow and explore.
